Domestic Violence

No-one should have to live with the fear of physical attack or other forms of abuse from their partner or other members of their household.

Wandle will:

  • help victims of domestic violence. If you or any member of your household suffers physical abuse, other types of abuse or violence, contact your housing officer.
  • encourage you to report incidents to the police and can help you do so if you wish.
  • encourage you to seek legal advice and can help you use a solicitor.
  • safeguard your right to housing and, if appropriate, transfer the tenancy to you.

We will treat any information you give in the strictest confidence.

Please contact Customer Services on 0800 731 2030 to ask for a copy of our leaflet on Domestic Violence. You can also ask for a copy of our Domestic Violence Policy.

Help is also available from the National Domestic Violence 24-hour helpline, Women’s Aid (and Refuge): 0808 2000 247 www.womensaid.org.uk

Request for housing

We will be sympathetic to all requests for rehousing that result from domestic violence, but will need evidence from the police or another agency that members of your household are at serious risk if you remain where you are. We will also seek to deal with the trouble-makers, rather than let them do it again.
