Neighbourhood Management and Abandoned Vehicles

Estate inspections

Housing officers visit estates with 10 or more homes every six to eight weeks. They will:

  • check communal areas for repairs that may be needed and report them
  • check that the communal cleaning and gardening is being done
  • check if the estate looks clean and tidy
  • check if there are any untaxed or abandoned vehicles and arrange for their removal
  • talk to the company who carry out the cleaning and gardening if you or they are unhappy with the work
  • talk to you about any improvements or changes that may be needed in the communal areas.

We will inspect estates with fewer than 10 homes every three months. If you have any problems please speak to your Housing Officer when they visit or call the Customer Services Team on 0800 731 2030.

Abandoned Vehicles

A vehicle is abandoned if it is:

  • in a poor state of repair
  • reported as being abandoned
  • in a dangerous condition
  • illegally parked
  • not owned by a resident
  • has no valid tax disc

If you report an abandoned vehicle the Housing Officer will visit. If the vehicle looks abandoned they will leave a sticker on the vehicle asking the owner to get in touch.

If the owner does not contact us and arrange for the vehicle to be removed we will work with the local authority and the DVLA to get the vehicle removed as quickly as possible.

You can report an abandoned vehicle by telephoning Customer Services on 0800 731 2030.
