Managing Arrears
If you’re struggling to pay your rent please contact your income officer straight away. We’ll help you to work out why you are having problems, identify any benefits you may be entitled to and see how you can clear your arrears. We’ll also give you any help you need to complete any benefit forms.
We can also refer you to the local Citizens Advice Bureau or to Wandsworth Money Advice who are there to help all Wandle residents.
Wandle will also work with you to find a way to help you clear any arrears.
However, if don’t work with us to attempt to clear your arrears, we will send you a Notice of Seeking Possession. And if you still don’t try to clear or reduce your arrears, we will apply to the County Court for an Order for Possession.
If you lose your case, you could face court costs, in addition to your arrears, and have a county court judgement against you, which will make it hard to get credit. You could even be evicted from your home.
For more advice, contact your income officer on 0800 731 2030.
