Moving Home
Priority for housing is given to people with low incomes and families in most need, especially if they are homeless or likely to become homeless. We don’t keep a waiting list for housing.
We offer homes to:
- people nominated by local councils, especially if they are homeless or may become homeless
- existing Wandle tenants who need to move because of overcrowding, the poor state of their home or for other urgent reasons (e.g. medical)
- people sent to us by agencies we work with.
- homelessness or threatened homelessness
- overcrowding
- your medical needs
- harassment or domestic violence
- security of tenure – how long you can stay in your current home
- what condition your home is in
- how well you are coping with any of these things.
Our area housing teams select tenants and allocate housing, according to what’s available and the criteria listed above. Our Housing Services Committee checks the way we allocate homes, and gets reports four times a year on the people we have housed.
Appeals against allocations
We work in a diverse and multi-racial society where many people are disadvantaged. We welcome diversity, and we do our best to stop unlawful discrimination and disadvantage everywhere we work.
- no-one applying for housing will be treated worse than anyone else because of their race, colour, ethnic origin, age, gender, religion, disability, sexuality, marital status or responsibility for dependants.
- we will do our best to help disadvantaged minority groups to benefit from our housing services.
We aim for equal opportunity and fair treatment for all people. You can get copies of our allocations policy and our Applying to Move Home leaflet from Customer Services.
