Guide to Wandle
Introduction
Wandle Housing Association was formed in 1975 but our history can be traced back to 1967. We are a non-profit making charitable association regulated by the Housing Corporation .
Although our main focus is in Wandsworth, Southwark, Merton and Croydon, we are working closely with 11 London boroughs to help them meet local housing needs (Where We Work).
We manage over 5,600 properties - mainly family housing - and develop New Build HomeBuy homes (part-buy, part-rent) for keyworkers, like nurses and teachers, and people on low incomes keen to take their first step on the property ladder. We also manage a number of supported housing projects, developed in partnership with specialist managing agents, which cater for client groups such as young single mothers and people with alcohol dependency.
All new tenants are nominated by local authorities or local specialist referral agencies and over 75% of new rented homes under development are offered to council nominees. Existing council and housing association tenants will be offered priority for New Build HomeBuy properties.
Board of Management
Wandle is overseen by a Board of Management which meets regularly throughout the year and provides up-dates at our Annual General Meeting, which is open to all residents and usually held in September. The Board monitors how we deliver services to residents and reviews performance and policies.
Staff
Wandle employs nearly 150 staff in its four directorates.
