Solomon's Passage Redevelopment
Wandle owns and manages four blocks of flats, comprised of 85 homes, at Solomon’s Passage in Peckham. The original developer, Green Acre Homes (South East) Limited, went into administration in August 2011.
The buildings have had significant problems and we appointed a firm of experts to conduct a thorough investigation into the buildings. The subsequent report recommended a combination of complete refurbishment and demolition with rebuild.
This page details updates and progress on the redevelopment project.
Update - June 2019
This update has also been shared to near neighbours, who have requested updates as we have them.
The site is currently hoarded and secured by motion detection cameras on 24 x 7 monitoring and mobile site patrols.
Our original plan was to demolish and rebuild blocks 42 and 44 while refurbishing blocks 40 and 46. Having secured planning permission for the new build of blocks 42 and 44 we decided, following further investigative studies, to seek approval to demolish and rebuild blocks 40 and 46, rather than refurbish them. We expect the planning application for this approach to go before the Council in the next few months.
In parallel with the planning application, because of the weakening of the housing market Wandle Board are reviewing the options including disposal of the site.
Whichever option we pursue, we are keen to work efficiently to minimise any disturbance to you and the local community and are grateful for your forbearance.
When we have a clear decision as to whether it will be Wandle or a third party that is to develop the site and what the plans are, we will share a further update.
