Celebrating Community at Merton Pride

Earlier this month we attended Merton Pride, celebrating the LGBTQ+ community by bringing together residents, local groups, charities and local businesses. The theme this year was centred around inclusion and diversity, promoting a community where everyone feels safe and able to be themselves.

Merton pride was a fantastic success, with the local community enjoying a fair, march and show for everyone to enjoy. We were proud to attend as an ally and sponsor, showcasing how we support the LGBTQ+ community through our Housing Pledge and highlighting our LGBTQ+ colleague network Wandle Proud.

Daisy Obi, our Senior HR Advisor and ED&I Lead attended Merton Pride and shared her thoughts from the day.

‘We were proud to take part in this year’s Merton Pride, a truly wholesome and uplifting event that brought together residents, community groups and local organisations in celebration of inclusion, diversity and belonging.

It was wonderful to be out in the community, meeting and engaging with so many of our residents and sharing meaningful conversations throughout the day. Events like Merton Pride provide a fantastic opportunity to connect with the people we serve, celebrate our diverse community and demonstrate our commitment to creating an inclusive environment for all.

We were also delighted to meet the Mayor of Merton and spend time with a range of local organisations and charitable groups, including representatives from AFC Wimbledon and other community partners who are making a positive difference across the borough.

The day was filled with positivity, pride and community spirit, and it was inspiring to see so many people come together to support and celebrate equality. Our team thoroughly enjoyed being part of the event, and we are grateful for the warm welcome we received from everyone we met.

With some fantastic photos and videos capturing the atmosphere of the day, we’re excited to look back on the memories and, most importantly, we’re already looking forward to taking part again next year.

Merton Pride reminds us of the power of community, connection and inclusion, and we are proud to stand alongside our residents and partners in celebrating these values.’
