The resale of an existing shared ownership property – also known as part-buy, part-rent – is where the current owner wishes to sell it on.

Buying a resale property can be a more flexible route into shared ownership for many people. There are less stringent qualifying criteria for a resale property than for the regular shared ownership scheme, which offers brand-new homes for part-buy, part-rent.

If you are interested in buying a home in this way, you will be able to buy at least the same percentage share as the previous owner and pay a subsidised rent on the remaining share.
