STAIRS – The Social Tenant Access to Information Requirement

The Social Tenant Access to Information Requirement, better known as STAIRS, is a new regulatory standard in the UK which has been designed to give residents within the social housing sector easier access to key information regarding their home, landlord and the services they receive.

From 1 October 2026 all housing providers must now share key information about how they manage their homes. As your landlord, this includes:

  • How we are performing
  • How decisions are made
  • How we spend money
  • How we are improving our services
  • How a resident can hold us accountable

The aim is to increase transparency and ensure we proactively share information about how our services are managed and hold us to account when they do not.

We already share much of this information through our website and reports. To make it easier for you to access, we have created a dedicated webpage on our website that brings this information together in one place.

From 1 April 2027 residents will have the right to request specific information from us, and we must respond within 30 days.

Unlike a Subject Access Request, which limits a resident to access personal information, STAIRS gives our residents the right to access information about how their home and services are managed by Wandle. From 1 April 2027, residents will be able to request this information through our STAIRS webpage.
